Summary: We collect as little personal information as we can, use it only for the purposes described here, and follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, topic and message.
- Newsletter: your email address and the page where you subscribed.
- Server logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested URL and time, kept by our hosting infrastructure for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics (if enabled): aggregated usage data such as pages viewed and approximate location. See our cookie policy.
How we use it
- To reply to your message and improve our guides.
- To send the newsletter you asked for. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
- To keep the website secure and working.
We do not sell personal information.
Service providers and storage location
We use third-party providers for website hosting, databases, analytics and advertising. Some may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We require providers to protect information and use it only to deliver their service.
Retention
Contact messages are kept for up to 24 months. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a limited period set by our hosting provider.
Your rights
You may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent, using our contact form. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
